A group created under the auspices of GW's Allied in Pride, the GW Marriage Equality Coalition is a group of students concerned and focused on the issue of marriage equality in Washington, DC. It is true that Washington has one of the best domestic partnership laws in the country, affording gay and lesbian couples nearly all the rights and responsibilities of marriage. Separate, however, has never been accepted as equal.
This was a great event. I really like the idea of being proactive in putting forth that gay people deserve rights in a manner that is opening and welcoming to everyone. :)
